JAMFYA® is an effective dance fitness program that consists entirely of original Jamaican dancehall steps. By combining these steps in the right way, you get a perfect full-body and cardio workout that really works up a sweat.
Characteristic of JAMFYA® are the consistently bent knees (soft knees), which brings burning thighs, as well as the many body waves, which work the abdominal muscles at least as much as sit-ups and crunches.
The choreographies consist of a wide variety of dancehall moves from oldschool to newschool. They range from simple grooves that make it easy to get started, to complex step sequences that are challenging and immensely motivating when mastered.
Dancehall is not just a dance style. Dancehall is a culture. It is a way of speaking, eating, moving and living. Dancehall steps are an important part of that culture. They are developed by street dancers in the ghettos of Jamaica and reflect the life there. The name is short for Jamaican Fyah (Jamaican Fire).
JAMFYA® respects this culture and wants to contribute with the workout to honour this culture and of course show how fit you can become through it.To keep the workout authentic and up to date, JAMFYA® works closely with Jamaican street dancers and has found a way to support them. So every year, a part of the income is donated to Jamaica.
